Experience

Marketing Coordinator, Galleria Supermarket

Nov. 2015 – Present

As the largest Korean supermarket chain in Canada, Galleria’s customers/audiences are a mix of Koreans, Chinese and native Canadians, with emphasis on the Asian demographics. My responsibility is to balance and optimize the company’s marketing activities and resources through different digital platforms, tools and events, based on each ethnic group’s cultural referents.

In terms of social media, I am managing the company’s Instagram, Facebook and WeChat corporate accounts(the most popular social app for Chinese). I oversee breaking news and relevant topics, create and post interesting contents via different digital platforms, track and analyze the results afterwards for future improvement.

I began my professional career after graduating from University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance & Economics. However, when I attempted and then failed my CFA Level 1 in my third year of university, I knew I would never be a good investment banker because I never had passion in banking. Therefore unlike my classmates who went into banking, I made decision to pursue a career that I love–marketing.

I joined a start-up company that was founded by a young and ambitious man, worked as a half sales half liaison person between my clients and my team. The company was providing advertising/marketing services to the local small-to-medium sized businesses at a fee, mainly Asian restaurants in the beginning, and then expanded to other types of businesses in different industries.
